IMAP
1. What is IMAP?
- IMAP stands for Internet Mail Access Protocol. It is one of the standard email access protocols, similar to POP3. The difference is that when you enable IMAP, the emails you receive in your email client remain on the server. At the same time, any actions you perform in the client, such as deleting emails or marking them as read, are reflected on the server. The emails on the server will also be updated accordingly. Therefore, whether you log in to your mailbox from a browser or a client, the emails and their statuses will be consistent.
2. How do I use IMAP service in the Android mail application?
- Below is an introduction to how to create a mailtech mailbox IMAP account using the Mail application on an Android system. We will use an HTC phone as an example (the operation is basically the same on other Android phones, with only slight differences in the interface):
- 1) Turn on your phone and go to the "Mail" application in the Android system.
- 2) If you are using a mobile network and a "cannot connect" message appears, please select "Settings" to enable the mobile network.
- 3) After setting up the mobile network, press the menu key, select "More" -> "New Account."
- 4) Select the mail provider "Other (POP3/IMAP)."
- 5) Enter your full email username (xxxx@mailtech.com) and password, then tap "Next."
- 6) Since the phone defaults to POP, you need to change the protocol to IMAP when setting up the incoming server.
- 7) For the incoming server settings, the IMAP server address is: imap.mailtech.com (please consult your system administrator for the specific server address), security type: SSL, port number: 993. After setting, tap "Next."
- 8) For the outgoing server settings, the SMTP server address is: smtp.mailtech.com (please consult your system administrator for the specific server address), security type: SSL, port number: 465 / 994. After setting, tap "Next." The account is now set up. Fill in the account name and the name to be displayed in the sender field.
- 9) Tap "Finish Setup" to start sending and receiving emails.
3. How do I use IMAP service in the mail application on iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, etc.?
- The setup process is the same for all iOS mobile devices, with only slight differences in the interface:
- 1) Go to iPhone's "Settings" and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars."
- 2) Select the mailbox type. If your company email is not listed, please select "Other."
- 3) Please enter your email name, email address, and an incorrect password (the Apple system defaults to POP3; if you need to use IMAP, you must enter an incorrect password to be able to change it). You can leave the description blank, then tap "Next."
- 4) Set up the IMAP account information as follows, enter your correct username and password, then tap "Next": Incoming Mail Server Host Name: imap.mailtech.com Outgoing Mail Server Host Name: smtp.mailtech.com (please consult your system administrator for the specific server address)
- 5) Tap "Save" to complete the setup. You can now use your company email with IMAP enabled on your iPhone client.
- Special reminder: If you are using an iPhone or iPod touch with a system version below 4.0, SSL is disabled by default. It is recommended to enable it in the advanced settings. Here's how:
- 1) Select the account you have already set up and tap to enter the settings for this account.
- 2) Tap "Account Info" to enter the settings for the added account.
- 3) At the very bottom, tap the "Advanced" tab to configure SSL.
- 4) In the "Advanced" tab, set: Use SSL: On; Authentication: Password; Delete from server: Never; Server Port: 993 (also confirm that the SMTP server port is 465 or 994). (If SSL is turned off, please set the server port to 143 and the SMTP server port to 25.)

By seamlessly integrating with the corporate email server, it can push emails to customers' mobile devices in real time and securely. At the same time, customers can also perform daily email sending and receiving, address book synchronization, calendar synchronization, meeting invitations, and other operations on their mobile devices, conveniently handling mailbox matters and flexibly improving outdoor office efficiency. All operations performed by users on their mobile devices are also synchronized to the server in real time.
2. Which mobile terminals does Coremail Push support?
- Currently, the built-in email clients of almost all smartphones and tablets support the EAS protocol, including mainstream operating systems such as iOS and Android. Users do not need to install an additional client to use the Coremail Push service. They can easily achieve real-time push of smartphone emails in any wireless network environment such as GPRS, 3G, or WIFI.
3. How to configure Coremail Push on an iPhone?
- Coremail Push supports all series of iPhone phones. Please find and open the built-in mail client application on your phone, and select "Microsoft Exchange" when adding an account. (The operation is basically the same for other iPhone system phones, with only slight differences in the interface):

- 2) Click the [Add Account] button under [Accounts] on the right side.
- 3) Select Microsoft Exchange. In the email prompt box, enter: [Email address]. In the domain prompt box: [No information needs to be entered]. - 5) After 3-5 seconds of verification, a screen asking for the server address will pop up. (You can ask your administrator for the server address).
- 6) After clicking the [Next] button, as shown in the figure above, you will see that [Mail], [Contacts], [Calendar], and [Reminders] are all displayed and selected by default. Click the [Save] button, then return to the main interface and click the [Mail] button. You will immediately see all the emails that already exist in WebMail being continuously and quickly pushed to your iPhone's inbox. To ensure that the emails for your pushmail account can be received normally in your iPhone, please do not empty the emails in your WebMail inbox. If you have configured a pop3 account with a client such as Outlook, please keep a copy on the server.
4. How to configure Coremail Push on an Android phone?
- Please open "Settings" on your phone, select "Add account" in "Accounts & sync," and then select "Exchange ActiveSync" when adding an account. (The operation is basically the same for other Android phones, with only slight differences in the interface):
- 1) Enter your full email address, username, password, and domain name. The mail server address is generally mail.domain.com. (Please consult your mail system administrator for the specific server address.)
- 2) If the customer's mail server has enabled SSL service, you can check the box.
- 3) Check the content you need to synchronize, "Contacts," "Mail," and "Calendar," then click "Next" to complete the setup.
- After completing the above basic settings, you can start using Pushmail to send and receive emails, synchronize and search for mailbox contacts, and synchronize your calendar.
5. How much data traffic does Coremail Push use?
- The data traffic generated by Coremail Push is mainly from sending and receiving emails, which depends on the size and number of your emails. Therefore, we recommend that you set a limit on the size of pushed emails, such as 10K, and only choose to download the full email when necessary. At the same time, we recommend that you use the various monthly data packages or plans offered by your carrier.
6. Why is there sometimes a delay in pushing emails to my phone?
- There may be several reasons why your phone is not pushing emails in a timely manner:
- 1) Network reasons. When the mobile network signal in your location is poor, it may cause emails to not be pushed in a timely manner.
- 2) Phone setting reasons. If you have turned off the default automatic data synchronization on your phone, it will not automatically synchronize the latest data in real time. Please turn it on.
- 3) Phone system reasons. If your phone is running multiple tasks at the same time, it may also indirectly affect the timely push of email services.
- 4) If it is not for the above reasons, please contact the system administrator to check the specific logs and resolve the issue.
7. How can I save battery power?
- You can set the frequency of email reception and choose the time interval you need. For example, during non-working hours, you can receive emails once a day. In this case, Coremail Pushmail will consume less power to receive emails.
8. My push emails are taking up a lot of space on my phone. What should I do?
- Generally, you can choose to delete some larger emails (deleted emails will be moved to the deleted items folder; email deletion is synchronized with the mail server, and if emails are permanently deleted, they cannot be recovered). Alternatively, you can delete the account and set it up again. The system will then default to synchronizing emails from the last three days.
9. Will deleting my account also delete my emails from the server?
- No. However, if you have synchronized your personal address book contacts to your phone, those contacts will disappear after you delete the account.
